Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche

Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche was born in 1950 in Manang, Nepal and is a highly respected lama of the Karma Kagyü lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. He was ordained a monk by the 16th Karmapa Rangjung Rigpe Dorje in Rumtek, India, where he received his Buddhist education. He carries the unique title of Maniwa, which one gets only when one guides others in reciting the mantra OM MANI PEME HUNG more than one billion times. (As of 2017, that number is more than fifteen billion.) He is considered an expert in the practice of Loving Eyes (Tib. Chenrezig). Already as a child he showed exceptional compassion.
